Six Ways to Live Mindfully

A glance across the explore page on Instagram or the for-you page on TikTok may convince you that practicing presence and living more mindfully isn't accessible to people in their everyday lives. However, we can all live in the moment and commit to being more mindful of how we go about our day-to-day schedules. In today's blog post, we're sharing the ways we practice presence and living more mindfully, and we hope it'll inspire you to explore the ways you can do the same.

  • Do nothing

With 5011 other things on our schedule, doing nothing should also be on that list. At the end of the day, Kamil regularly takes at least twenty minutes to lie across her yoga mat with ambient lighting and relaxed instrumentals in the background. While in this state of intentional rest, she can be at one in her body, allowing her breath to guide her back to herself and her mind to focus on being rather than doing.

  • Intention setting

The spoken word has such immense power. It should be no surprise why we think intention setting is essential to a mindfulness practice. When we have intentions for how we spend our time or lives, it can be easier to discern when we're out of alignment.

Here are a few intentions that Kamil speaks daily over herself:

I am patient.

I am present.

I am purposeful.

  • Avoid multitasking

It may sometimes feel unavoidable, but Cherelle tries to avoid multitasking. Focusing on one thing at a time allows her to give her full presence and attention to the current task.

  • Get moving

For Cherelle, exercise is the quickest way to focus solely on her body and be in the moment. Although we're using the word 'exercise," this doesn't have to look like running at 6 in the morning or daily visits to the gym. We encourage you to find a way to get in touch with your body, even if it looks different from those around you.

  • Deep Breathing

Regulating your breath can bring you back to the current moment and make you aware of where you are and how present you are in your body. We recommend exploring different breathing techniques online that range from ones to bring you a sense of calm to those that offer you a boost of energy.

  • Walking meditation

A walk around the neighborhood, taking in all the beautiful scenery, is a stress reliever. Walking also has many other benefits, like improving cardiovascular fitness and muscle power.

Check out the podcast, This Morning Walk, from Alex Elle and Libby DeLana as they explore the strength of a good ol' fashioned walk.
